This series of paintings focuses on the amazing life of downtown New Orleans, which includes a vibrant music scene and the historic and bohemian neighborhoods of Marigny (where I live) and Bywater.
This piece, "Light on the Tracks," is a nocturne of muralist, historian, and educator Brandan "bmike" Odums' studio Be, on Press Street at Royal, lit up as the beacon it is in the Bywater over the river. With the large scale portraits and poetry all over his buildings, murals, and work, he keeps us ever mindful that the arc of history bends towards progress and we are all uplifted.
